What a touching and lasting tribute to your family hero's. I have visited this site many times, and consider it one of best sites on the web. Since my first visit here, I have invested thousands of hours in research to reconstruct the war records of my family as well. You were such an encouragement.
My Uncle Lance Corporal Norman Sullivan was a tank commander with the Governor General Foot Guards (GGFG), 21st armoured division in the 4th brigade. His tank was the last tank shelled with the crew instantly killed, in Germany on April 28th in the GGFG. They supported the Linc's throughout the war. Having read both the GGFG and the Lincoln & Welland Regimental History books, after my interest being so peeked by your stories, the books gave me such a wealth of information. Thanks again for this wonderful site.

I appreciate your sharing the stories of your uncles. The stories brought them both to life. Thank you.
I came across this site while doing research on the Headquarters Squadron of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division. My father, Russ Colombo, served as a tank platoon commander with the unit. Clarence A. Campbell was commanding officer of the unit. Any related information would be welcome.

I found the site and the information about Loren fascinating. My father (Private Albert Oakes) was a vet who served with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment as well as the RCA and CIC. He never talked about his experiences and sites like yours help me to understand what he went through and his contribution. Thank you.

Sir,
With great interest I read the story of Loren Nelson. His grave is on the cemetery in Holten.
We are planning to make an informationcenter next to the cemetery.
One of the items in this center will be the personel records of soldiers who are buried in Holten.
My question is if we could have copies of personel letters about his wartime of Loren Nelson.
We asked you too for persmission to publish his story from the internetsite in this center.
With kindly regards,
Gerry van't Holt

I am still searching for any information for Williard Sikstrom of the Calgary Highlanders. Where he served.
Also looking for information on his brother Carl Harry Sikstrom. Who served in some capacity with the airforce, though never went over seas.
Looking for information on Edward Julien Ginther who served as a correspondant for the Airforce in England
and for his brother Bernard "Bunny" Elmer Ginther whom also served but have no idea which group army/navy/airforce.
How can I try to locate military information on these relatives. They are all deceased.

Very nice tribute. Well done! I have been uprooting bits and pieces about ny Uncle who was killed during Operation Totalize at Falaise. He was with the 4th Armoured Division. I would appreciate greatly anyone who may help me with any information about the battle of the Falaise Gap, life in England and life at Borden Ontario during training. My Dad served in the Navy, and my other Uncle served in the Signal Corps through to Holland before coming home in 1946.

In searching for the uncle of a good friend of mine, I have come to realise that Canada, and other countries, show a lot more pride in remembering the fallen than others. Keep up the excellent work.
If anyone knows where I would be able to trace a gentleman form the Midland Regiment who transferred to the Royal Rifles of Canada post 1936, I would be grateful.
Paul
